The shaped pillows have only a small amount of background because they are cut to the outline of the pillow itself. They look great when finished and the kit instructions tell you exactly how to achieve that. They are very effective when mixed with square and rectangular pillows in a chair or on a sofa. They’re also fun to make!
These kits include a full-color chart, imported silk gauze, 2 needles, DMC floss, ultrasuede for the backing, batting for stuffing, complete instructions for assembling and a photo of the finished pillow.
NOTE: For your convenience, stitch counts are given for these patterns in case you don't wish to stitch on the count of gauze provided in a kit. My suggestion is to purchase the chart for a pattern and a piece of your preferred count silk gauze from the
Supplies section (24, 34, 40, 48, 58 and 75 counts are available).
You can use the chart colors or your own.
To determine the finished size, divide the width and height stitches by the count of Silk Gauze you wish to use. For example, if the stitch count is shown as 106 wide by 77 high, on 40 count the finished size would be 2.6" by 2" (106 divided by 40 and 77 divided by 40). If you wanted to use 48 count Silk Gauze then divide by 48 and so on.
Victorian Doll Pillow
